India at T20 World Cup: Fingers pointed at selection committee, Why did India choose 3 injured & unfit players in the squad
Why did Indian selectors choose unfit Hardik Pandya in the squad? Right from the Day 1 of the T20 World Cup, one dimensional Hardik Pandya’s inclusion has disturbed the balance of the squad.
As Pandya was selected ahead of the likes of other all-round options, India line-ups in both games have looked completely unsettled. To accommodate Hardik in the line-up team management made various compromises resulting in drubbings at the hands of Pakistan & New Zealand.
Why Indian selectors could not identify 1 FIT all-rounder instead of picking an unfit player who has cost India the SEMIFINAL position of the World Cup.

“India so badly wanted to accommodate Hardik Panday in the line-up that they have made compromises to the line-up”, said former England captain Michael Vaughan
“If Hardik is not fully fit, he should not be in the line-up”, Gavaskar was quoted as saying before the game vs New Zealand.
‘Specialist batsman & India’s finisher’ managed scores of 11(8) and 23(24) against Pakistan and New Zealand respectively.
Was Varun Chakravarthy fit? Indian selectors & the team management also need to answer, was Varun Chakravarthy fit? He looked jaded in both the matches, looked like a liability in the bowling line-up as well as on the field.

Chakravarthy, who had a long history of fitness issues, was not completely fit after he sustained an injury in the KKR vs DC Qualifier 2 match of IPL 2021.
However, India tried to choose him and so-called ‘trump card’ failed badly.
Why half-fit, completely flop Bhuvneshwar Kumar made it to the Indian line-up?
Bhuvneshwar Kumar continued his dismal IPL 2021 form and India had no option but to drop him from the playing XI against New Zealand. Like other pacers, he failed against Pakistan after managing just three wickets in the UAE leg of IPL for SRH.
Yuzvendra Chahal, Shikhar Dhawan and Deepak Chahar ignored
Yuzvendra Chahal
In-form Yuzvendra Chahal was LEFT OUT for the T20 World Cup despite his 18 wickets in IPL season, joint-most by a spinner in IPL 2021. He is till date India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is. Youngster Rahul Chahar was chosen ahead of Chahal despite his ailing for Mumbai Indians in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. Interestingly, he did not feature in the playing XI.

Shikhar Dhawan
Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan was IGNORED despite his consecutive success in IPL 2021. He ended the IPL 2021 season with 500+ runs under his belt. Rohit Sharma, who failed to unleash himself in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, hit a new low in T20 World Cup. He was dropped from his batting position and under-pressure Ishan Kishan failed to deliver when it mattered. KL Rahul, who slammed 600+ runs in IPL, also failed to provide a cracking start.
Deepak Chahar
Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar who had impressed during the India tour of Sri Lanka with all-around abilities was SIDELINED from the T20 World Cup, managing a place in the standby list. He has a knack for picking up wickets in the powerplay where India picked just a lone wicket in the first two matches. He bowls as many as 3 overs for CSK in IPL.
