T20 World Cup: Can Virat Kohli-led Team India still qualify for the semifinals in T20 WC? Explained

It is notable that six of India’s biggest defeats have come in 2021-

52 balls vs Aus (2008)
33 balls vs NZ (2021)
33 balls vs SL (2021)
31 balls vs Aus (2012)
27 balls vs Eng (2021)
27 balls vs Aus (2017)

No boundaries in slog overs–

  • Both Sodhi and Santner tightened the grip on India batsman with India failing to score a single boundary during 7-16 overs.
  • India were 35/2 after the end of powerplay and 78/5 at the end of the sixth over.
  • They managed just 43 runs off 60 balls at a run rate of 4.3 with a strike rate of less than 75.
  • Rohit Sharma (14) and Virat Kohli (9) departed during this phase.
  • Sodhi got rid of Virat Kohli for the sixth time in limited-overs cricket while Rohit Sharma fell prey to him for the second instance.

India stoops to a new low in T20Is

In the history of T20Is, India have failed to hit a single boundary during slog overs only 5 times. A couple of those have come this year, against New Zealand and Sri Lanka (earlier this year).

According to Cricviz, no team has a lower attacking shot percentage than India. Only Ireland, Netherland and Papua New Guinea have a worse timing rating.
