Team India put in the hard yards late in the evening on Saturday as they prepared for the crunch game against New Zealand. The entire squad was seen doing a variety of drills on the field, and they also spent some time in the nets to fine-tune their game before taking the field tomorrow. Captain Virat Kohli particularly looked determined as he faced the likes of Rahul Chahar in practice, aiming to continue his good form into the game. KL Rahul was also seen batting, and will be hoping to overturn his fortunes after being cheaply dismissed against Pakistan.

In a piece of good news for India, Hardik Pandya was seen rolling his arm over, but it remains to be seen whether the all-rounder is fit enough to go through his overs in the game. Pandya is unlikely to be ready to bowl against New Zealand, but an opportunity may arise later in the T20 World Cup, where the Mumbai Indians star makes himself available as a sixth bowling option.

The training session also saw Rishabh Pant spend some quality time with the mentor MS Dhoni at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Saturday going into the game against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup on Sunday. Dhoni not only fine-tuned Pant’s keeping skills but also shared his knowledge with the young cricketer as they took small breaks during the session to discuss how Pant can improve further.

It was interesting to see how they had a chat walking back to the nets after the session with Dhoni doing most of the talking and Pant being the keen student. After all, it is not often that players get to spend time with Dhoni ever since he hung his boots as an international cricketer last year on August 15.

India are hoping to bounce back to winning ways after being handed  10-wicket drubbing by arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening game. New Zealand also come into the clash on the back of a defeat against Pakistan, and both teams will be hoping to put points on the board with a place in the semi-finals on the line. A defeat could potentially mean the end of the road for either side, and both teams will be giving their best shot in what promises to be an exciting clash in Dubai.
