Ind vs NZ LIVE: Kohli vs Southee to Rohit vs Boult, 5 interesting battles to watch for India vs New Zealand LIVE match

Kohli vs Southee (11 dismissals)

India skipper Virat Kohli will face a threat from New Zealand’s lead pacer Tim Southee. The Kiwi recently completed 100 wickets in the shortest format. He has dismissed the modern run-machine for record 11 times in his career. Southee might have got the better of him only twice in T20s but Virat Kohli has been dismissed 6 times in ODIs and thrice in Test matches by the New Zealand pacer. He will have to come up with a plan.

Besides Southee, Kyle Jamieson is another trouble for Virat Kohli. He had dismissed Kohli in both the innings of the ICC WTC Final in June.

Guptill vs Bumrah

New Zealand opener Martin Guptill has the worst record against India in the T20Is. He averages 17+ with just 208 runs in 12 matches against the Men in Blues. India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has so far dismissed him for record 5 times in shortest format. He will look to exploit the statistical advantage and give India a top start against New Zealand.

Williamson vs Ashwin

New Zealand Kane Williamson will be a big wicket for India. He has scored 325 runs against India in 11 matches with a couple of fifties. Once he is settled, Williamson can steer Kiwis over the line. R Ashwin, who has taken his wicket for record 5 times in Test matches, is expected to weave his magic and stop the Blackcaps talisman.

Rohit Sharma vs Boult

Left-arm pacer Trent Boult will once again be deadly for India opener Rohit Sharma. The Hitman has lost his wicket to Boult for a record 8 times across all formats. He is so wary that he ended up with the Kiwi pacer in his IPL franchise. Now, he is expected to play him easily after having played/ trained against him during the nets. The main question lies is- whether he can deliver against him on the field or Boult will use something out of the blues from his armoury. Rohit had earlier struggled against left-armer Shaheen Afridi in the previous match.

Hardik Pandya vs Ish Sodhi

India’s out-of-form allrounder Hardik Pandya has a dismal record against New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi. The latter has dismissed him thrice with the right-handed batsman managing just 6 runs off 12 balls he faced. Don’t be surprised if in-form Ish Sodhi comes straight away to bowl once Hardik Pandya arrives at the crease.
