Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan has equalled former Indian captain and legendary cricketer MS Dhoni’s record of most T20 dismissals in a year as a wicketkeeper. Playing against Afghanistan in his third T20 World Cup clash, Rizwan took the catch to dismiss Najibullah Zadran off Shadab Khan’s bowling to equal the record. Rizwan has now 39 T20 dismissals in a calendar year to his credit. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni had achieved a similar feat in 2016 when he also played a part in 39 T20 dismissals in the same year.

Rizwan had no luck behind the stumps against New Zealand but had taken two catches in the game against India to beef up his tally. The Pakistan wicketkeeper had dived to his right to take a stunning catch to dismiss Suryakumar Yadav, before receiving a dolly from Virat Kohli in the back end of the innings. With the bat, Rizwan scored a classy 79* to lead Pakistan to a 10-wicket win, though runs have since dried up in the following games against New Zealand and Afghanistan.

The Men in green have established themselves as the team to beat by showcasing all facets of their game, with the arrival of Asif Ali as a designated finisher adding much-needed firepower to the side. Babar Azam and Co. look like a well-rounded unit and will be looking to emulate the 2009 side, which won the T20World Cup title in England.
