NZ beat IND Highlights – India’s Semfinals Dreams Dented: India’s semifinals hopes took a huge beating as Trent Boult and Daryl Mitchell powered New Zealand to a comfortable 8-wicket victory over Virat Kohli’s India in Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. India are now placed 5th in Group 2 with zero points and a negative net run rate of -1.609. New Zealand are third with two points from as many games and an NRR of +0.765 – Follow T20 World Cup LIVE Updates on InsideSport.in

India didn’t have a competitive total to defend and New Zealand proved that right. Chasing just 111, New Zealand made light work of India’s total as Daryl Mitchell’s 49 and Kane Williamson’s 33 were enough to chase down the target.

Can India still make it to Semis? India’s only chance now is to win their three remaining games, and then hope that New Zealand and Afghanistan lose at least one of their remaining games. Then, NRRs could come into play. Even on that front, India have plenty of work to do – their defeat against New Zealand has pushed their NRR down to -1.609.

Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson stitched a 72-run stand for the second wicket to steer the New Zealand chase. Chasing 111, New Zealand got off to a decent start as openers Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell stitched a 24-run stand. Jasprit Bumrah gave India the first breakthrough when he dismissed Guptill in the fourth over.

While Jasprit Bumrah picked up martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell’s wickets, it was not enough. India’s spinners had a bad day as Ravindra Jadeja was hammered for 23 in two overs. While Varun Chakaravarthy was economical, he was toothless in terms of taking wickets. On the other hand, New Zealand didn’t falter and kept scoring at a brisk rate as Kane Williamson and Mitchell look comfortable at the crease.

NZ beat IND Highlights: In the end, New Zealand chased down the target in just 14.3 overs to register their first win but denting India’s semifinals hopes in the process. India will now need to win all remaining three matches while also hope that New Zealand and Afghanistan lose at least two more games.

Earlier, India’s experiments failed horribly as Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi made India struggle. After being put into bat first once again, Virat Kohli & Co failed to get any momentum. Apart from Hardik Pandya’s 23 off 24 and 26 off 19, India’s top-order failed once again and India could only set 111-run target for New Zealand.

NZ beat IND Highlights:  Earlier, the toss didn’t go as planned for Virat Kohli as Kane Williamson won the toss and asked India to bat first. India made two changes to the side that lost to Pakistan. Suryakumar Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar go out, Ishan Kishan and Shardul Thakur come in. For Kiwis, Adam Milne comes in.
