IND vs PAK: Harsha Bhogle and Aakash Chopra criticize Waqar Younis: Pakistan finally broke their World Cup jinx against India as they defeated the Men in Blue with a dominating performance. Every cricket lover in Pakistan was elated at their team’s achievement and praised the team for their stupendous effort at the bigger stage. However, former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis was proud of something not at all related to cricket and was brave enough to make a communal comment on the same on national television.

Waqar Younis, while discussing Pakistan’s performance, lost the plot completely and said that he was extremely proud of Mohammad Rizwan for offering Namaz in the stadium surrounded by Hindus. This absurd comment left cricket fans and others unimpressed. Indian cricket expert Harsha Bhogle criticized Waqar Younis for his comments and urged him not to divide by religion. Aakash Chopra joined Bhogle too.

“The manner in which Babar and Rizwan batted, the strike-rotation, the look on their faces, it was amazing. The best thing, what Rizwan did, Mashallah, he offered the Namaz on the ground surrounded by Hindus, that was really something very special for me,” said Waqar on ARY News.

In reply to this, Harsha Bhogle shared a threat of tweets. “For a person of Waqar Younis’ stature to say that watching Rizwan offering namaz in front of Hindus was very special to him, is one of the most disappointing things I have heard. A lot of us try hard to play such things down and talk up sport and to hear this is terrible,” wrote Bhogle.

“I really hope that a lot of genuine sports lovers in Pakistan are able to see the dangerous side to this statement and join in my disappointment. It makes it very difficult for sports-lovers like us to try and tell people it is just sport, just a cricket match.

“You would think that cricketers, as ambassadors of our game, would be a little more responsible. I am sure there will be an apology on the way from Waqar. We need to unite the cricket world, not divide it by religion,” he finished.

Former India cricket Aakash Chopra was also unimpressed with Waqar’s remarks.
“Et tu, Waqar!” Chopra tweeted.

The fans also looked disappointed at Waqar’s choice of words and criticized the Pakistani for the same.

One of the fans of the Pakistan cricket team also criticised the former pacer Waqar following his remarks. “Yaaar Waqar lanat yaaar. Why would you say that,” the fan tweeted.

Another Twitter user asked Waqar to issue an apology and termed his statement “pathetic”. “Waqar should issue an apology, maybe do it in post-match show today, that statement was pathetic,” the user tweeted.
