Although CD Projekt delayed the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 for four times before it finally showcased the game to the world, the fans expected a very improved and well-built game made for the future generation but all those expectations were lashed only few days after the game launched. The game was filled with various kinds of bugs and glitches which greatly degraded the gameplay and user experience. These lead to many players asking for refunds as Sony and Microsoft both revised their refund policies during this shambolic event. Even after a great start, Cyberpunk 2077 sales have been down in 2021 with only around 4 million copies sold till now and analysts expect the game to sell around 4.27 million copies by the end of this year.
The co-CEO of CD Projekt, Adam Kicinski said, “I don’t see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077”. The game developers projected that the first year sales should be around 30 million copies and by now they have only managed to meet around 60% of the target. Adam Kicinski also added, “We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come”. The developers are constantly working on new updates and new bug fixes that are expected to enhance the gameplay experience of the Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt also confirmed via twitter that they are working on next-gen updates for Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 which are expected to come in the first quarter and second quarter of 2022 respectively.
