Sehwag is regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen. He is the only second Indian batsman to smash 1000 boundaries in Test and ODIs.
He has won the Player of the Match award for a record 31 times and is only behind Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.
The right-handed batsman is the only fourth cricketer to hit two triple centuries in Test cricket after Don Bradman, Brian Lara and Chris Gayle.
He holds the record for the fastest triple century (300 off 270 balls) in Test against South Africa.
Sehwag won the ICC Test player of the year award in 2010. He also won the ‘Wisden Leading Cricketer of the year award’ twice—2008 & 2009.
He is the only captain in ODI who smashed a double-ton. He had achieved the feat against West Indies in 2011.
Sehwag’s favourite food is Kheer made by his mother Krishna Sehwag. He is also called Nawab of Najafgarh.
Sehwag made his first-class debut for Delhi in 1997. He made his test debut against South Africa in 2001 where he scored a century in 1st innings on debut.
Sehwag won the Arjuna Award in 2002, three years after making his India debut.
