T20 World Cup: Ireland vs Netherlands – Curtis Campher 4/4: Ireland pacer Curtis Campher scripted history on Monday, becoming only the third bowler to bag four wickets in four consecutive balls. Earlier, Lasith Malinga and Rashid Khan had achieved the feat and now Campher has joined the duo in the elite list.
Curtis Campher achieved the feat in Ireland’s Group A match of the ongoing T20 World Cup against the Netherlands. The pacer achieved the feat in the 10th over as he dismissed Colin Ackermann (11), Ryan ten Doeschate (0), Scott Edwards (0) and Pieter Seelaar (0).

Curtis was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1999. He played for South Africa Under-19 team before moving to Ireland. In February 2020, he was selected in Ireland’s A team and made his ODI debut in July 2020 against England. Campher, 22, had a T20 best of 3-19 from his previous four matches since making his debut earlier this year against Zimbabwe in Dublin.
T20 World Cup: Curtis Campher is also the second player with a hat-trick in the men’s T20 World Cup after Australia fast bowler Brett Lee, who achieved the feat against Bangladesh in the inaugural edition in 2007.
Netherlands was going well at 51/2, but owing to Campher’s antics, the Dutch were quickly reduced to 51/6 before the completion of the 10th over.
Earlier, Malinga had taken four wickets in four balls against New Zealand while Rashid achieved the feat against Ireland.

He switched ends in the match on Monday and got instant success after Ireland reviewed a caught behind for Ackermann with the ultra edge technology showing a spike when the ball passed the batsman’s gloves.
Technology helped Campher once again on the hat-trick ball when Edwards was given not out by the on-field official but replays suggested the ball would have hit the leg stump.
