Dhoni’s Blunder: CSK captain fumes on himself as he drops easy catch Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni on Friday dropped an easy catch to remove in-form Venkatesh Iyer. He dropped him for a duck during the second over bowled by Josh Hazlewood. The latter bowled a sharp bouncer which took a thick outside-edge as reverse-sweep went wrong. He looked completely dejected after his miss behind the stumps. This is not the first time in IPL 2021 that 40-year-old Dhoni has failed to hold on to a catch.
Notably, CSK opener Faf du Plessis was dropped by Dinesh Karthik and he went on to smash 86 runs. Iyer went on to pile fifty off just 31 balls and shared 91 runs partnership for the opening wicket.

A little later, Dhoni got fingertips to the ball hit by Venkatesh Iyer during the 5th over bowled by Shardul Thakur. Luckily, Iyer survived once again! The short delivery took an edge and sailed past Dhoni as he tried to jump in the air to cling onto it but to no avail.

Twitter users shared split reactions with some lashing out his fielding while others chose to forgive him for the catch drop.
“Dhoni dropped a catch in the finals,” a user tweeted.

Dhoni dropped a simple catch. He could have shown his frustration, but he chose to remain cool, calm and composed to confuse KKR.
