IPL 2021: MS Dhoni slammed 6-ball 18 to guide CSK to 9th IPL title- MS Dhoni haven’t had the best of seasons but he chose to come ahead of R Jadeja with CSK needing 24 runs off 11 deliveries. He smashed a huge six out of the park reminding the fans of Vintage Dhoni who would smack the deliveries out of the ground at will. With CSK needing 13 runs off the final over, MS Dhoni finished off in style with two balls to spare of Tom Curran’s last over.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar and current India skipper Virat Kohli were floored with Dhoni’s magic.
“Look at the responsibility. Jadeja has been hitting the ball a fair distance. But he came in, he promoted himself. As a captain, he wanted to be there at the finish. He wanted to do it. That is amazing. You could argue that this has not been the best of the seasons for him but look when it was needed, he has come out and delivered and delivered in style,” Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports.
“Anddddd the king is back the greatest finisher ever in the game. Made me jump Outta my seat once again tonight. @msdhoni,” Kohli wrote on Twitter.
Chennai Super Kings will play their ninth IPL final in search of the 4th title. The yellow army had won their last trophy in 2018. They will face off the winner of DC vs KKR in IPL 2021 Qualifier 2 on Friday, October 15).
