IPL 2021: Glenn Maxwell calls out social media trolls after RCB exit – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) superstar Glenn Maxwell has hit out at social media trolls following the torrent of abuse and mockery made out of Virat Kohli and Co. after they crashed out of the tournament. RCB failed to defend 138 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Sharjah in the Eliminator of the IPL 2021 playoffs, thus crashing out of the tournament. It marked yet another disappointing end to a promising season for RCB, who were amongst the top teams during the league stage.

RCB vs KKR Eliminator: Glenn Maxwell launched a staunch defence of his teammates following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL 2021 exit. Virat Kohli and Co. were at the end of massive online abuse and trolling, as their barren run of not lifting silverware continued for yet another season following their loss to KKR. While the loss brought an end to a promising campaign, Maxwell has urged fans to be kind after some “absolutely disgusting” comments on social media.

The Australian all-rounder wrote, “Some of the garbage that has been following on social media is absolutely disgusting! We are human beings who are giving our best each and every day. Try being a decent person maybe instead of spreading abuse. Thank you to the REAL fans that shared love and appreciation for the players giving their all! Unfortunately, there is some horrible people out there that make social media a horrible place to be. It is unacceptable!!! Please don’t be like them.”

RCB vs KKR Eliminator: The defeat against KKR and the subsequent trolling marked a sour end to what has been a top season for Glenn Maxwell. The Australian all-rounder, who has struggled in the IPL, over the past few seasons, got the monkey off his back with some consistent performances in both phases of the IPL, finishing off as the fifth-highest run-getter in the season.

Maxwell aggregated 513 runs in 14 innings for RCB and was their leading run-scorer, striking at 144.10 and at an average of 42.75. His six half-centuries are the joint-most this season by a player, to go along with Orange Cap leader KL Rahul. He was also a handy customer with the ball, chipping in with 3 wickets, repaying the trust RCB put in him when they splashed a whopping ₹14.25 crore on him.
