The Ashes: Root, Buttler happy with quarantine, England to go full-strength – England are set to have their full squad at disposal for the Ashes Down Under follopwing breakthrough talks between the players and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The players, including captain Joe Root and vice-captain Jos Buttler, had earlier expressed their concerns regarding quaratine regulations for the Ashes, but following discussions with Cricket Australia and their own board, the senior stars have committed to the tour.

Joe Root will have his full strength squad at disposal for the 11-week tour of Australia, after the senior players committed to finally playing the Ashes, which kick off on December 8. The ECB held a meeting to ratify the series after months of doubts over the future of the series, following uncertainty over COVID-19 regulations placed on the players and their families.
- The Telegraph reported that the most pressing issue of quarantine norms for the England players families were addressed by Cricket Australia.
- Now the families of players would be allowed to quarantine in a Yara Valley Resort booked exclusively for them.
- This measure, in addition to the resort facilities offered to the two groups of players, staff and families arriving into the Gold Coast in November either side of the Twenty20 World Cup, was critical to reassuring Root and his players that they would not be facing two weeks confined to a hotel room on arrival.

However, after discussions earlier this week with Cricket Australia, the players seem to be happy over the bio bubble and quarantine restrictions durring the Ashes, including Jos Buttler, who had previously shown reluctance to touring following the birth of his child. Among first team stars, All-rounder Chris Woakes, fast bowler Mark Wood and openeing batsman Rory Burns also have small children.
ECB are likely to select and announce a squad this weekend, although captain Joe Root will have his fair share of troubles during the Ashes with injury absentees in Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Olly Stone, while Moeen Ali hung his boots following the series against India.

Over recent weeks, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made excellent progress in moving forward on the Men’s Ashes Tour, and as a result, a conditional approval has now been given to the series to go ahead later this year.
“To facilitate further progress and allow a squad to be selected, The ECB Board has met today and given its approval for the tour to go ahead. This decision is subject to several critical conditions being met before we travel,” the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in an official statement.
“We look forward to the ongoing assistance from Cricket Australia in resolving these matters in the coming days,” the statement added.
