DC vs CSK IPL 2021: Make or break time for Shreyas Iyer – Delhi Capitals star Shreyas Iyer will be playing the two most important games of his career with the batsman in with a chance to earn a promotion to India’s T20 World Cup squad before the October 10 deadline. He is in direct competition with MI’s Ishan Kishan, who is in a rut and has been dropped by his team in IPL 2021.
Shreyas Iyer, who returned to competitive cricket in Phase 2 after injury, has impressed so far, and two more games of eye-catching performances should put him in great stead as the selectors mulling changes top their squad. Iyer has already made an impact with the selector’s keen to promote him from the reserves and will hope that the Delhi batsman can turn those thoughts into reality.
IPL 2021: Shreyas Iyer to play two most important matches of his career, good show could promote him to India’s 15-member squad for T20 World Cup
Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan pipped Shreyas Iyer into the T20 World Cup squad, but it is likely that the Delhi Capitals superstar can replace either of the two following their disastrous campaigns for Mumbai Indians. Their dip in form has been concerning and with Iyer waiting in the reserves, the team could make the call to include the ex-Delhi Capitals skipper in the main squad. Should Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan continue their poor form, Shreyas Iyer could get a look in adding to India’s batting order.

A BCCI official had earlier raised concerns on Suryakumar and Ishan Kishan form and said, “Yes, it is a bit of a concern but we still have few matches left in IPL to get them back in form. Hopefully, they will. We have Shreyas Iyer as the backup, if there are any concerns, he could be added. But it’s too early to say anything. Ishan Kishan is an important player and so are Suryakumar and others. There is no point speculating. “
Since then Shreyas Iyer has gone on from strength to strength, while Suyakuamr Yadav’s struggle continues. Ishan Kishan meanwhile was dropped from the team in favour of the veteran Saurabh Tiwary.
