Yashasvi Jaiswal’s journey to IPL stardom was far from straightforward as he battled for survival on the maidans of Mumbai from a very young age. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Jaiswal moved to Mumbai to pursue his cricketing dream at the age of 11 and spent years sleeping in tents on Azad Maidan. Struggling to make ends meet, he had to sell pani-puri during the Ram Leela in Azad Maidan and help sell fruits. Some days he would go on an empty stomach and tried his best to keep some money coming in, even playing some of the older boys to earn Rs 200-300 to survive a week.
