In his four overs on Saturday, Avesh Khan gave away runs at an economy rate of 3.80 in exchange for three huge wickets in Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Nathan Coulter-Nile.

His 141.6kmph delivery was on target and as Hardik tried to make a room to take the shot, he completely missed the line and the delivery cleaned up the stumps, hitting from in between the legs.

His fantastic yorker even left Sunil Gavaskar amused. “Avesh Khan’s pace was too hot for Hardik to handle. The pace he was bowling was too good for Mumbai Indians,” the batting legend said during his commentary of the match.

This season, Avesh has scalped 21 wickets in 12 matches and is currently in second place on the Purple Cap leaderboard behind RCB’s Harshal Patel, who has 26 wickets in 11 games. He has even managed to impress DC coach Ricky Ponting who has called him the most improved Indian player of the IPL 2021.
