Both team captains at the toss
Rishabh Pant – We were looking to bowl first as well, but it doesn’t matter. There will be a bit on the wicket in the day game. One change for us, Lalit Yadav replaces Marcus Stoinis. It’s good to be nearing a record, but we’re not looking at individual performances, not thinking too much about qualifying.
Sanju Samson – We will bowl first. It’s a day game, it becomes easier to bat second. We have all settled down and moved on to this game, it was a complete team effort by everyone. Evin Lewis and Chris Morris miss out; Tabraiz Shamsi and David Miller are in. They have a balanced side, we are looking forward to an exciting game
Preview – DC vs RR
The Delhi Capitals have made a stellar start to IPL 2021 Phase 2, clinching a comfortable win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad last time out. With five games left, last year’s beaten finalists are just one win away from guaranteeing a finish in the top four, having clinched seven wins from their nine games – Follow DC vs RR LIVE Updates on InsideSport.co

DC Playing XI – IPL 2021 DC vs RR: Steve Smith set to return in Delhi Capitals playing XI as Marcus Stoinis yet to recover: Follow DC vs RR Live Updates
Marcus Stoinis Doubtful? Consistency has been key for Delhi Capitals this campaign, and their large set combination has helped them achieve their goals this season so far. However, Marcus Stoinis limped off during their game against Sunrisers, providing fresh concern to the captain Rishabh Pant and coach Ricky Ponting.
- Stoinis’ availability is unconfirmed at this stage, though Nortje was relatively optimistic during his press conference on Friday.
- “He looks good,” Nortje said. “I spoke to him this morning and he seems to be fine, but they’re just waiting on some results. I think he’s gone for a scan.”
- If Stoinis is unfit, Steve Smith will be the choice in XI.
- Lalit Yadav could also come in to bolster the bowling attack with either Tom Curran or Ben Dwarshuis replacing a local bowler.
Delhi Capitals: 1 Prithvi Shaw, 2 Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Shreyas Iyer, 4 Rishabh Pant (capt/wk), 5 Marcus Stoinis/Steven Smith, 6 Shimron Hetmyer, 7 Axar Patel, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Anrich Nortje, 11 Avesh Khan

DC Playing XI – IPL 2021 DC vs RR – Options for Delhi Capitals? Delhi’s other two foreign options are not all-rounders, to maintain a balance, Ben Dwarshuis is likely to make the cut.
The most notable option is Steve Smith, who was benched in the last match against SRH. Although the former Australia captain is a world-class batter, he doesn’t offer any bowling, stripping DC off an additional seam option.
Tom Curran is the like for like replacement that Delhi Capitals boast in their ranks. The English all-rounder can contribute effectively with both bat and ball, and could be looked to fill the void left by Stoinis.
Lalit Yadav presents another option after the Delhi cricketer impressed one and all with his all-round skills in IPL 2021 Phase 1. His off-spin could be handy on sluggish pitches, while gives Rishabh Pant the variety in attack, should help to play Amit Mishra over Ravi Ashwin.
DC playing XI vs RR IPL 2021: The uncapped Australian left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis has an impressive resume playing in the Big Bash League. He is the tournament’s sixth-highest wicket-taker with 85 scalps in 69 matches with a strike rate of 17.30. Ben Dwarshuis is however not new to IPL. He was part of the Punjab Kings setup in IPL 2018 although he didn’t get to play a game before he was released.
For other positions, Delhi Capitals are unlikely to tinker with their combination, after making a winning start to IPL 201 Phase 2.
