IPL 2021: Parthiv Patel lauds KKR hero Venkatesh Iyer, says “could see shades of Yuvraj Singh” in him
IPL 2021 – Venkatesh Iyer new Yuvraj Singh? Venkatesh Iyer kicked off his IPL career with a stunning 41 against RCB, before taking it up a notch to score his maiden fifty against the Mumbai Indians. The left-handed all-rounder treated the opposition with much disdain as he took apart Trent Boult and Adam Milne in the powerplay to give KKR a quick-fire start. Iyer played fearless cricket which saw Mumbai backed into a corner, and Eoin Morgan and Co. eventually made it two wins in two with 29 balls to spare.
Venkatesh Iyer’s attacking brand of cricket received from much of the cricket fraternity, with Parthiv Patel reserving rich praise for KKR’s newfound talent, comparing him with India’s World Cup-winning all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. Speaking on Star Sports, the former Mumbai Indians opener said,
“We do talk about a lot of boundaries. But the maturity that Venkatesh Iyer showed was superb. We are talking about someone who is not an India A player, someone who has not played international cricket.”

Venkatesh Iyer new Yuvraj Singh?
Parthiv Patel added, “One of the great things about him, having seen him, he can not only open, he can bat from 1 to 9 and bowl as well. So he will have a great future. I think there is a lot of Yuvraj Singh in him. There is a lot of flow.”
Former England spinner Graeme Swann agreed to his colleague’s assessment and said, “He has got swag. He is very cool, calm and collected. He doesn’t show a lot of emotions. First ball against Boult and Milne was hit for six. When the spinner come on, the helmet comes off. He is flicking that hair back. The boy has got swag and talent. I love the way he goes about his cricket. He is my Man of the Match.”
