IPL 2021, MI vs KKR: Big battle tonight, Can Varun Chakravarthy win against/outfox world’s best white-ball player Rohit Sharma – After their crushing defeat against the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians (MI) will look to bounce back as they lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Match 34 of the ongoing IPL 2020, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium Abu Dhabi on Thursday night.

There are many exciting aspects of the clash between MI and KKR, but among all – the battle between MI captain Rohit Sharma and mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, will be the most exciting one.

Rohit was rested in the last game against CSK and he is returning to lead MI while Chakravarthy wreaked havoc (3/13) and played a crucial role in beating RCB by 9 wickets in Match 31 of the IPL 2021 in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

Praise from Indian captain Virat Kohli

After the game against RCB, Virat Kohli also praised KKR’s Chakaravarthy, saying that the mystery spinner will play a key role when he plays for India.

“He’s (Varun Chakravarthy) pretty good, that’s exactly what I was saying in the dug-out, he’s going to be a key factor when he plays for India. We need to see performances like these from all the youngsters so that the bench strength of Indian cricket stays strong. And, he’s someone who is going to play in the near future for India and it’s a great sign,” Kohli said during the post-match presentation.

What makes battle between Rohit and Chakravarthy, exciting ?

Historically, MI captain Sharma has always done well against KKR. He also has a great record at Eden Gardens, the home ground for KKR.

The ace Indian opener is an aggressive white ball player and loves to take on the spinners while Chakravarthy is known for his variations and mystery. So, it makes the contest ‘mouthwatering’.

Remember last time ?

When the teams met in Chennai during the first stage of this IPL, Rohit hot 43 off 32 balls and Chakravarthy took 1-27 in four overs as MI won by 10 runs.

Positions of both the teams in points table

Missing the services of their talismanic captain and India allrounder Hardik Pandya, MI went down by 20 runs to CSK on Sunday night. Both the players were rested as a precautionary measure, allowing them to recover from their niggles.

MI went down by 20 runs to CSK on Sunday and they are lying at the fourth spot with eight points in eight matches.

With only half the tournament left to play, the defending champions need to win to stay in the top half of the league table.

On the other hand, KKR will look to maintain its momentum after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier in the week.

Having struggled in the first leg, the Eoin Morgan-led KKR looked a completely different unit in the game against CSK and are placed sixth in the points table.
