Billion Dollar Athlete: As per a report by The Sun, Emma Raducanu’s lawyers have applied in the UK to safeguard the words “Emma Raducanu”, “Emma” and “Raducanu” following her successful US Open campaign. The trademark could pave the way for a personalised fashion line, including her own cosmetics, perfumes, clothing and footwear lines. The 18-year-old is an advertisers’ dream, and could rake up more than £100million in prizes should she continue her exploits in further Grand Slams.

Emma Raducanu could trump Roger Federer’s £215million ten-year sponsorship deal with fashion brand Uniqlo. Other tie-ups, such as a mooted Tiffany deal in China, could pull in an annual £20million a time. She set up her first limited company, Harbour 6, last year and her new applications were filed within hours of her US Open win by UK lawyer Anthony Brierley.
Raducanu is currently managed by Max Eisenbud, who has previously managed former world number one Maria Sharapova. Now retired, Sharapova was the world’s highest-paid female athlete for 11 years running. Several sportsmen including Michael Jordan, Cristiano Ronaldo and Tiger Woods have amassed fortunes topping £1billion but Emma would be the first woman to do so.
Billion Dollar Athlete: Raducanu’s age and potential make her a massive asset and the world of fashion is taking notice as the 18-year-old was one of the big attractions at the Met Gala 2021. She donned an outfit designed by Virginie Viard – with a rope of pearls encircling her waist and more Tiffany diamonds sparkling in her ears at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The US Open champion had black leather ankle boots on her feet as she completed her classic black and white look. She posed with Lily-Rose Depp, Whitney Peak, Margaret Qualley, Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Lopez and Megan Fox confirming her newfound star status.

Billion Dollar Athlete – Emma Raducanu: Currently, Naomi Osaka is the world’s highest-paid female athlete overtaking Serena Williams in May 2020. Following Osaka’s back-to-back Grand Slam titles in 2018 and 2019, Nike paid about $10m (£7.2m) to take her from Adidas and she now has a total of 15 company sponsors. Raducanu is in line to overtake those numbers should she continue her US Open 2021 heroics, with her Flushing Meadows paycheck being the biggest in history for a teenager.
