BAN vs NZ 5th T20I: Tom Latham shines as New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 27 runs – Riding on superb fifty by captain Tom Latham followed by disciplined bowling by Ajaz Patel and Scott Kuggeleijn New Zealand managed to beat Bangladesh by 27 runs in the fifth and final match of the series here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on Friday.
Chasing a challenging total of 163, Bangladesh got off to a bad start having lost four batsmen inside 10 overs. Mohammad Naim scored 23 runs which was the only notable performance from the top order as Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim failed to impress.
After early wickets, Afif Hossain and Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah stitched a solid partnership. At one point the host were smelling victory but it was New Zealand’s disciplined bowling performance that got them through.
Earlier in the first innings, Finn Allen and Ranchin Ravindra followed by a magnificent fifty by captain Tom Latham, New Zealand posted a challenging total of 162 runs with the loss of five-wicket in their quota of 20 overs.
New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first. New Zealand openers proved the decision right as they post 58 runs opening partnership. Allen scored 41 runs in just 24 balls with the help of four boundaries and three maximums while his partner Ravindra played an anchor role in the partnership by scoring 17 runs in 12 balls. He also smashed three boundaries in his innings. Tom Latham, who came out to bat at number three went back not out with 50 runs under his belt in just 37 balls. The left-hand batsman smashed two boundaries and as many sixes. He played with a strike rate of 135. Henry Nicholls and Cole McConchie gave New Zealand the much-needed finish by scoring 21 and 17 runs respectively.
On the other hand, for Bangladesh Shoriful Islam picked two wickets but gave away 48 runs in his four overs. Afif Hossain, Taskin Ahmed and Nasum Ahmed chipped in with one wicket each.

Toss Report – BAN vs NZ
