Ishan Kishan posted a video on his Twitter account after getting selected. He wrote Thank You in the caption of the video with India’s flag.
“Really honoured. I was not expecting my name to be there in the first 15. I think it’s the recognition of the hard work put in by my family and coaches. It is a very big opportunity for me to step up for my country on the biggest platform of world cricket,” Ishan Kishan said.
Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson were the top contenders for the backup wicket-keeper. The left-hand batter has been in sublime form for Mumbai Indians in IPL where he had scored 516 runs in the 2020 season. Whereas Sanju scored 277 runs in just seven games in IPL 2021 first phase. Mumbai Indians’ batter was chosen above Sanju as he had performed exceptionally in the chances that he got during India’s series against England.
