IPL 2021: Devdutt Padikkal gym training: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli, famous as the fitness icon, has inspired many cricketers to up their fitness level. In fact, he has become the motivation for many youngsters in RCB team where players like Devdutt Padikkal draw inspiration from Kohli. In a recent video shared by RCB on Twitter, Bangalore players in UAE were seen sweating it hard in the gym at team hotel- JA Lake View Hotel.

A three minute long clip posted by RCB on social media gave fans a sneak peek into the players’ training session. RCB’s ‘Strength & Conditioning coach’ Shanker Basu hailed the youngsters and said the guys are proper ‘athletes’ now. He furthered on how they have charted out players’ power strength, speed and endurance and gradually increase their workload while also keeping in mind players’ injuries and niggles.

Emphasizing on the explosiveness and fastness of this T20 format, Basu emphasized on the plan of how guys have to use fast twitch fibers, anaerobic energy to up their performances.
As RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal exercised in the gym, he lifted the following weights in the different exercises.
Bicep curl- 20 kg
Squat- 100 kg
Fastest run on treadmill- 18
IPL 2021: Devdutt Padikkal stint with bat for RCB
The 21-year old made headlines right in his debut IPL season where he emerged as one of the leading run scorers for RCB. In IPL 2020, he played 15 matches for the red brigade, amassed 473 runs and returned with an economy of 31.53.
In this season of IPL, Padikkal aggregated 195 runs in the six matches he played in the first leg and returned with an economy of 39.
IPL 2021: RCB schedule for Phase 2
This season, Virat Kohli’s side are third in the standings, having won five of their seven games so far. The Bangalore based franchise have done the hard bit and will hope for a smooth passage into the playoffs and potentially end their title drought when the IPL resumes in UAE.
