IND vs ENG 4th Test: By the end of the 4th Test, Jasprit Bumrah has bowled 151 overs, the highest amongst Indian bowlers. On Day 5 at Oval, despite being fatigued by the workload, Bumrah delivered a magical spell of reverse swing, taking out Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow to dent England’s hopes. As Virat Kohli & Co registered a memorable 157-run victory at Oval, Bumrah says workload management wasn’t on his mind, rather he was focused on delivering the win.

“When you’re playing a Test match, you don’t realize what is done before, how many overs you bowled, because right now the important thing was doing a job for the team. I’ve work really hard on my fitness because I want to play cricket for the longest period of time,” Jasprit Bumrah said at the post-match press conference on Monday.

IND vs ENG 4th Test: While he was one of the architects of Oval victory, he could still be rested for Manchester Test. Consider the IPL 2021 is around the corner and the T20 World Cup coming up, managing Bumrah’s workload will be crucial. He has had frequent injuries and India cannot afford one before the T20 World Cup.

But Bumrah said with the amount of fitness work he has done, he is confident of pushing the boundaries when needed.

“I work hard in the gym, work hard with my diet and everything I try to control. So, all of these things give me confidence. I’ve got the ammunition in inside me that whenever I have to push, I can push for the team. And that was the thing that I was focusing on. If you go too far ahead, think about the World Cup, you could be mentally tired. So, I was focusing on the present right now,” Jasprit Bumrah said.

IND vs ENG 4th Test: Back in the match, after lunch, Jasprit Bumrah delivered the knockout punch to England. It was his spell of 6-3-6-2, the pacer cleaned up Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow with some masterclass of reverse swing, taking the game completely away from England. Virat Kohli revealed that it was Bumrah’s plan to bowl the overs and utilise the reverse wing with the old ball.

“It was absolutely unbelievable spell. If you give 27 runs in 22 overs on this kind of pitch, that’s a huge effort on the last innings of a Test match. As soon as the ball started reversing a bit, Jasprit just said ‘give me the ball’. He bowled that spell and got us those two huge wickets and completely shifted the momentum,” Virat Kohli said in the post-match presentation.

IND vs ENG 4th Test: Jasprit Bumrah said it was important to bowl that spell to create pressure on England at that phase. He is happy that he could execute the plan well.

“Obviously, it’s very important to create pressure. So, we thought it’s an important phase and I went up to Virat and told him that, I think we should start well and try to create pressure. So that was the intention behind it and yeah, very happy to get this result. A lot of efforts went into the win, all the bowlers contributed with the bat as well as the ball. So, I’m really happy. Hopefully, we’ll carry on the momentum in the next match as well,” said Bumrah, who became the fastest Indian pacer to take 100 Test wickets in 24 innings, breaking Kapil Dev’s record.
