IND vs ENG 4th Test- Shardul Thakur: VVS Laxman feels that Shardul Thakur, who proved his batting abilities, can replace R Jadeja as the main allrounder after a dazzling show with the bat at Oval. The former India cricketer was mesmerised by the different shots that he played. He said that Shardul has all the shots in the book, adding that he played well in Brisbane and repeated it at the Oval. He feels that the youngster can replace Jadeja who has been unable to contribute with the bat and ball in the ongoing Test series in England.

IND vs ENG 4th Test- Shardul Thakur: The right-handed batsman walked the pitch after Virat Kohli’s dismissal. At a time when India were 312 for six, he wove a 100-run partnership with Rishabh Pant accelerated India’s lead during the second innings. He lent yet another courageous knock at a time when the team needed it.
He smashed 60 off 72 balls and smashed seven fours and a six in his lion-hearted innings. He looked in an unstoppable form before falling prey to Joe Root’s bowling.
The skipper brought in himself with the change of bowling and it worked as he succeeded in breaking the partnership. Expecting some turn, Thakur drove the ball and found a slight edge at the first slip and was caught by Craig Overton.
With this knock, Thakur became the ninth player in Test cricket history to score 50+ in both innings of a Test batting at number 8 or lower.
