SL vs SA: Bizarre! South Africa’s spinner Aiden Markram bowls seven balls in an over despite no extras: The opening match of the white ball series between Sri Lanka and South Africa saw an unusual on-field cricketing incident. Despite the best of the score and ball tracking systems and devices, the ongoing first ODI at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo saw the bowling of seven deliveries in an over. The incident happened in the 16th over of the match where South Africa’s spinner Aiden Markram threw seven deliveries in an over despite no extras.
After the six balls of the over had been properly and duly done without any extras, Markram was running in for another ball when the slight confusion surfaced. The umpires suddenly realized that the over was done. However, despite completing the over, the confirmation said there is one more ball. The commentators were in for a surprise as all the prior six balls of the over had been diligently completed with no extras signalled in that over too.
SL vs SA: However, from that one extra delivery, South Africa’s spinner Aiden Markram conceded just one run. Overall, two runs were conceded from the 16th over of the game.
South Africa is on a tour to Sri Lanka to play matches – three T20Is and three ODIs. The matches will be played from September 2-14 in Colombo. The first of the three ODIs will be played on September 02, Thursday at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
SL vs SA: A couple of regulars including Quinton de Kock, Lungi Ngidi, and David Miller will be missing out on the ODI leg and will return for the T20I series. The T20I series will be Proteas’ last assignment before the T20 World Cup in Oman and UAE.
