The much-awaited fourth grand slam of 2021 is just a few weeks away. The two-week-long tournament is all set to be staged from August 30. From Novak Djokovic’s calendar Grand Slam to the three-way fight between Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Djokovic, the year’s fourth and last Grand Slam can witness some of the biggest development in Sports. Here we look at the 5 big records that can be achieved in the year’s fourth Grand Slam

Novak Djokovic- Calendar Grand Slam

The World No.1 Tennis player Novak Djokovic is expected to continue his dominant run in the Grand Slams. He has already won the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. Now, he will be looking to the ultimate glory. However, he needs to recover from his poor show at the Tokyo Olympics. As many as 5 players have won calendar grand slams. They are Steffi Graf- 1988, Margaret Court- 1970, Rod Laver- 1962 & 1969, Maureen Connolly-1953, Maureen Connolly- 1953. As mentioned, no player has won the calendar grand slam in the 21st century.

21st Grand Slam

The wait for the ultimate battle among three legends of Tennis will look for the ultimate glory at the US Open. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Djokovic are currently level with the 20th Grand Slam. Who will win the 21st Grand Slam? Follow us at insidesport.co to watch out

Serena Williams

Tennis legend Serena Williams is just a single Grand Slam away from equalling Margaret Court who has won as many as 24 grand slams. She has entered as many as 4 finals since 2018. It will be interesting to see if she can recover from her injury and go on to win the elusive title. The legendary tennis player has failed to impress in the last few Grand Slam outings.

The 39-year-old can also win her 7th US Open, joint highest with Richard Sears, Mate Pavic, and Bruno Soares.

Serena Williams US Open titles: 1999, 2002, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014

Title defence

Title defence has become a big topic of discussion in the last few Grand Slams. None of the women’s players in singles are able to win the title once again. Serena Williams had last defended her 2016 Wimbledon title. Since then, no women’s player is able to win the title once again. Since the 2015 US Open, we have had 15 first-time champions, including Ash Barty (Wimbledon), Barbora Krejcikova (Roland Garros) and Naomi Osaka (Australian Open) in 2021.
