IND vs ENG 1st Test: Is India going to be robbed of winning the 1st Test because of rain? Nasser Hussain says ‘ECB should be flexible with timings’: At 52/1 and need just 157 runs to win on Final Day, Virat Kohli & Co were in a good position to win the 1st Test in an England tour for the 1st time since 1986. But the unpredictable rain has played in England’s favour and could rob India of a win. Considering that, many have started questioning, why can’t ECB be flexible with start timings so that more time can be utilised on the days when there is no rain and former England captain Nasser Hussain has also joined the chorus.

Much like Indian fans, former England skipper Nasser Hussain is starving to see the cricket action kick off on the last day of the first Test in Nottingham. He has a suggestion, “Be flexible with the timings.”

In his Tweet, Nasser Hussain said, “We can make up time in England for weather late in the day when it’s usually getting darker but we can’t make up time in the morning when it’s usually getting brighter. With rain forecast, we should be starting at 10.30 am.

Clearly, the English veteran wants the see the adjustment of the delayed proceedings of the action to be compensated at the end of the play by offering some extra hours. A similar situation occurred at the World Test Championship Final between India and New Zealand where the reserved day was opened after rain interrupted the initial days of the Test match.

IND vs ENG 1st Test: Change in the playing conditions due to rain

In the overcast conditions, the playing conditions are going to be a little iffy with the wind coming into play. This means that England bowlers will get swing assistance which might trouble Indian batsmen in their chase.

Constant rain will possibly wet the outfield thus the ball will slow down as it approaches the ropes. The damp and slow outfield conditions are yet another area of concern for the Indian batters as they will take the guard on the final day.
