India vs England LIVE: Speaking in a virtual press conference ahead of the ENG vs IND 1st Test, James Anderson claimed that India cannot have complaints regarding the nature of the pitch after the tracks used during the home leg of the tour. As quoted by PTI, Anderson said, “I don’t think India can have any complaints if we do leave a bit of grass [on the pitch] because of what we came up against in our tour of India last time. It certainly played into India’s hands. They used the home advantage to their benefit.”

India vs England LIVE: However, Anderson stated that the Indian pace battery also had the tools to make the best use of the conditions if the curators leave some grass on. The legendary pacer, who has 617 wickets to his name, added, “A green pitch brings India’s seam attack into the game as well. We want pace and carry on the pitches because we know quite often it is going to swing here, so we want that extra carry.”
India vs England LIVE: James Anderson also reserved praise for young gun Rishabh Pant and facing the current crop of Indian superstars. The England pacer stated that IPL has brought a lot of difference to how players have modelled their game, and Rishabh Pant remains a prime example. Anderson said, “Rishabh Pant is an example, reverse-sweeping me with the new ball on our last tour to India. You never saw Sourav Ganguly do that. It is exciting to see. It is a different challenge for bowlers when you face a player who is not afraid to go over the top in Test cricket or play extravagant shots. It is also great for the viewers.”
