IND vs ENG Test series: From Virat Kohli to Joe Root, 5 players to watch out for in upcoming India vs England Test series: Gloves are on, gears are armoured and the stage is set at Trent Bridge, Nottingham for the first Test match to get underway from August 4. As the two quality sides- Virat Kohli led Indian team and Joe Root led England team are set to square off to contest for the glittering Trophy, we look at the players who can be exciting to watch out for in the upcoming red-ball game.

Here at InsideSport, we extend our hawk’s eye over 5 players who can be an exciting watch in the upcoming Test series.

Virat Kohli

It is a pleasure to watch Indian skipper on England soil, especially his rustling rivalry with England’s quick- James Anderson. The way Kohli resists his temptation to play the moving ball outside the off is something cricket fans are vying to watch for. More so, aspirations are all high from the Indian batsman who hasn’t smashed a hundred for almost the last two years. It would be interesting to see how Kohli sheds off his century drought and cruises India’s ship overseas.

IND vs ENG Test series: Rishabh Pant

The pocket-size dynamite, Rishabh Pant’s potential to pull off Test matches like T20I wins are something he has left spectators in awe of for a long time. The left-handed batsman holds special memories in England who not just made his debut appearance against England (in 2018) but also smashed a century on his debut Test series overseas. His phenomenal Test average- 43.84 (35 innings) clubbed with the form he is currently in, makes him an exciting watch in the series.

Mohammed Shami

The right-arm pace bowler, it would be gripping to watch how Shami exploits the green covers in England turfs. A testimony to his epic bowling in the World Test Championship final in Southampton where he optimally utilized the swing conditions, makes him a player to look out for in the upcoming red ball games. His solid Test stats- economy- 3.3, wickets- 184 in 97 innings are just another reason to back him up.

IND vs ENG Test series: Joe Root

England’s batting mainstay, the Three Lions skipper Joe Root is in hot touch in the ongoing 2021. His average- 55.68 is his 16 Test outings this year speak volumes of the phenomenal form England batsman is currently in. No doubt, his willow can roar ferociously in his home conditions and will be fascinating to watch in the whites.

Ollie Robinson

With an experience of just one Test match, Robinson height-bowling can be a bane for India alongside James Anderson-Stuart Broad’s duo. A testimony to his fine bowling performance was seen against New Zealand at Lord’s where he scalped 7 wickets and returned with an economy of 2.4 in the two innings he played. It would interesting to see how the visitors tackle his pace bowling.
