IPL 2021: Moeen Ali and Sam Curran unavailable, will MS Dhoni’s CSK manage to continue its dominance in the UAE-leg of IPL 2021? MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will suffer a major blow due to the unavailability of England players in the IPL 2021 Phase 2. It means CSK would be without the services of England-based star players- Moeen Ali and Sam Curran. The unavailability of the duo can significantly affect their position in Phase 2, who currently stands at 2nd spot in the points table ahead of IPL Phase 2.

CSK’s 7 crore grab in the IPL 2021 auction, Moeen Ali has been a boon to CSK. Walking down the pitch at number 3 for CSK, he has in fact given more promising performances than the earlier spot grabber- Suresh Raina. On many occasions, he single-handedly led the innings from the front and had changed the complexion of the match. The batting all-rounder had smashed 206 runs in 6 matches and scalped 5 wickets.

Besides, the left-handed allrounder Sam Curran has also been a big advantage to the yellow brigade. A powerful smasher of the bat, he undertook 9 scalps in 7 innings and smashed 52 runs in 3 innings with the bat. He has been the go-to man for CSK on many occasions.

It is a no-brainer that the absence of these two players will affect CSK BIG TIME in phase 2 of IPL 2021.

Who can fill Moeen Ali and Sam Curran’s spot?

CSK will somehow have to fill the spot but will miss the contributions that the England-based duo lent on the field.

In all likeliness, CSK will promote Raina to the third position and bring in specialized batsman- Robin Uthappa in the XI.

KM Asif– an allrounder might just play in Curran’s place. The franchisee would try to fit in the Asif who can render both the services on the field.
