Tokyo Olympics LIVE: Tennis- Novak Djokovic vs Alexander Zverev- Men’s Singles-semi-final; Live Stream, Scores, Date, Time, All you need to know.
Novak Djokovic moved closer to securing a first Olympic singles gold medal as he eased into the semi-finals on Thursday. The World No.1 defeated Japan’s Kei Nishikori 6-2, 6-0 as he aims to become the first man to win all four majors and a gold medal in a season, having already captured the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon titles this year. The Serbian ace was too good for the homegrown Nishikori and will face off against Alexander Zverev.

The World No.5 is the first German to reach the semi-finals of the Olympics men’s singles since Tommy Haas won the silver medal back in Sydney 2000. Zverev defeated Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-4 6-1 in one hour and seven minutes to set up what promises to be an enthralling clash against Novak Djokovic. The 24-year-old was clinical against Chardy and will have to put in a similar shift if he has to overpower the Gold medal favourite Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic’s sensational 2021
- Novak Djokovic is aiming to become the first man to win the Career Golden Slam in the same calendar year.
- Djokovic won the Australian Open earlier this year, beating No. 4 Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to win his ninth Grand Slam title Down Under.
- The World No.1 followed it up with a defeat of Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final 6–7(6–8), 2–6, 6–3, 6–2, 6–4 to win only second French Open title.
- Djokovic then had his moment of crowning glory when won a record-equalling 20th Grand Slam title, defeating Matteo Berrettini 6–7(4–7), 6–4, 6–4, 6–3.
- Should Djokovic win the Olympic Gold, and clinch the US Open title later this year, he would become only the second player after Steffi Graff to win all four majors and a gold medal in a season.
