IRE beat SA, 2nd ODI: Big win for Ireland, defeat South Africa for first time in ODIs – Andy Balbirnie led from the front as Ireland scripted history by defeating South Africa in the 2nd ODI at home. They have now taken a 1-0 lead against Proteas. Mark Adair, Joshua Little, and Andy McBrine took a couple of wickets each as South Africa lost by 43 runs. Except for Janneman Malan (84) and Rassie van der Dussen (49), the entire batting order failed to leave their mark.
Ireland beat SA in ODIs for the first time ever.
Earlier, a clinical batting display from Andrew Balbirnie, Harry Tector and George Dockrell pushed Ireland’s scorecard to 290/5 in their allotted 50 overs. Balbirnie smashed 102 off just 117 deliveries with the help of 10 fours and a couple of sixes. Tector and Dockrell smashed 79 and 45 runs respectively. They also shared a 90 runs partnership for the 4th wicket.
South Africa bowling was not up to mark in the 2nd ODI once again. Andile Phehlukwayo picked a couple of wickets for the Proteas.
