ENG beat SL, 3rd T20: Malan, Willey shine as England defeats Sri Lanka by 89 runs, whitewashes T20I series

Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera claimed a four-wicket haul by giving away just 17 runs in four over to pull back things for the visitors after Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan gave the host a solid start here at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday evening. Bairstow and Malan both scored hal-centuries to help their side to a flying start in the first 10 overs. Both stitched a partnership of 105 runs for the first wicket.

Sri Lanka all-rounder Isuru Udana picked the first wicket of Jonny Bairstow on 105 in the 12th over of the innings. Bairstow scored 51 runs in 43 balls with the help of five fours and one six. Malan went on to score 76 runs in just 48 balls. The left-hand batsman hit five fours and four sixes in his innings.

With Liam Livingstone, Malan stitched another partnership and took the team’s score to 143. England were looking all set for a 200 plus score but Binura Fernando sent back Liam on 14 of just 10 balls with the help of two fours. Expect for Bairstow, Livingstone and Malan no other batsman could manage to score double-digit runs.

Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera struck back hard and picked up four wickets in England’s middle-order which dented the batting. Chameera sent back Dawid Malan, Sam Billings,  captain Eoin Morgan and Moeen Ali
