The opening round of the French Open 2021 is all set to take place from May 30 while the qualifiers are already in progress. Here’s a list of players who have pulled out of the Paris showpiece tennis event. They are Simona Halep, Nick Kyrgios, Denis Shapovalov, Stan Wawrinka and Andy Murray.

Simona Halep
Wimbledon champion Simona Halep has withdrawn herself from French Open after a “small tear” in her calf following her injury in the Italian Open. “It’s with a heavy heart that I announce my withdrawal from @rolandgarros this year. Unfortunately the tear in my left calf needs more time to recover and the timeline is just too short. Withdrawing from a Grand Slam goes against all my instincts and aspirations as an athlete, but…..” she tweeted.
The injury rules out the 29-year-old’s hopes of playing the French Open which she won in 2018.

Denis Shapovalov
Canadian tennis player Denis Shapovalov on Sunday pulled out of Rolland Garros due to a lingering shoulder injury. The World No.14 made the announcement on Twitter, saying he ‘it is best to rest. See you in 2022’.
“I’m saddened to share that after consulting with my medical team I’ve made the difficult decision to withdrawal (sic) from @rolandgarros,” he tweeted.
“Unfortunately my shoulder has been bothering me and while medical tests look good, it is for the best to rest. See you in 2022, Roland-Garros.”
