IPL 2021: Covid-19 scare for MS Dhoni’s CSK; one team staff tests positive; MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a Covid-19 scare on Saturday when a personnel in the team contingent tested positive for the virus ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) starting on April 9. However, it can be confirmed through reliable sources that none of their players or support staff were affected.
“It is an official from the CSK content team. His tests came through today, following which he has been completely isolated from the rest of the squad. It can be confirmed that he didn’t go anywhere near the players and support staff. So they are all safe and the team will continue to practice as usual today,” said a team source who is tracking the developments according to TOI.

During the last IPL too, CSK members, including two players Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, had tested positive ahead of the tournament in the UAE.
The source said that no protocols were breached by any players or support staff this time around.
Meanwhile, several groundstaff at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday. The Wankhede will host 10 IPL games this season from April 10-25, including five CSK games.
