IND vs ENG 4th T20: England are on the verge of clinching a series win in India. The visitors are leading the 5-match series 2-1 and they will look to go for the glory after taking the field against Virat Kohli’s men on Thursday in Ahmedabad.

The Three Lions took a lead in the series for the second time on Tuesday. They beat India by 8 wickets in the first match before losing the 2nd one by 7 wickets. They bounced back in the last match with another 8-wicket win.

England pacers are on song, taking as many as 13 out of 16 India wickets in the series. Mark Wood and Jofra Archer have been superb with the new ball and the former reckons that a series win in the subcontinent nation will be a “brilliant achievement”. The fact that India are hosting the T20 World Cup will give England further confidence according to Wood.

“Brilliant achievement it will be to win against India in India. They are a top side; it will give us huge confidence going into the English summer and the World Cup being here, although we are trying a few different things and a few different rules for certain players. It is a good opportunity when you put wins on the board as we did before the 50-over World Cup; it gives you confidence,” said the 31-year-old in the virtual press conference ahead of 4th T20I at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Looking to bring in Shardul Thakur’s slower ball in my game

Further, Mark Wood, who bowled a 155 kmph screamer in the third T20I, said that he is looking to bring in India pacer Shardul Thakur’s slower ball in his game. Notably, the two have been teammates at the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the past.

“Watching the Indian bowlers, I have played with Shardul Thakur at CSK; I have looked at his slower ball, that is something I can try to have in my game. Behind the scenes, I am trying to learn a few new things. It is always about picking up things; these are the conditions we will face in the World Cup,” Wood added.

“We have a plan as a group. Chris Jordon is an experienced bowler. We decide on the ball we are going to bowl and then you try to execute that. The plan was good but the execution was wrong. On a couple of balls, I felt I executed what I wanted to bowl, but Kohli just played good shots and good players are allowed to do that. The first six he hit off me, was a hell of a shot,” said Wood.

“If you allow good players to get in, he got in and he took his time and he caught up with it in the end. He is a fantastic player, but we were pleased with the score we kept them too. I will take the battering in the end for the early wickets which I got,” he added.

The England fast bowler praised India captain Virat Kohli, saying that good players like him capitalise on the mistakes of the bowlers.
