Gujarat beat Andhra Pradesh in Vijay Hazare, Piyush Chawal, Panchal

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 – Gujarat beat Andhra Pradesh: A clinical effort by Gujarat helped them clinch victory in the first quarterfinal of Vijay Hazare Trophy Monday against Andhra Pradesh. The Gujarat skipper, Priyank Panchal played a match-defining knock and it was due to his innings that his side managed to enter Semi-Finals.

Gujarat beat Andhra Pradesh by 117 Runs: Arzan Nagaswalla and Piyush Chawla bowled superb spells upfront and derailed Andhra’s innings, and to come back from that kind of setback was never going to be easy. Chawla chipped three wickets, while Nagwaswalla dismissed four Andhra batsmen.

Ricky Bhui tried hard to keep them alive in the chase, but once he was dismissed, it was just a matter of time. Nagaswalla was the pick of the bowlers, but it was Panchal’s knock that set the tone for this emphatic win.

Panchal was adjudged the man of the match. “It’s a very small league as we play only five games. Our mantra was to win every game, and now we are looking forward to the semi-final. That is what I tell all youngsters, just enjoy yourselves as much as you can. That releases a lot of pressure off us. We were ruthless in all three departments. Now we have only one option – we need to win in order to become the champions,” he said.
