IPL Auction & Players Salary: The IPL 2021 auction on Thursday witnessed the expenditure of total of Rs 145.30 crores by eight franchises – MI, CSK, RCB, SRH, PBKS, KKR, DC and RR, who bought total 57 players which included 22 overseas players. Notably, after IPL 2021 mini-auction, the overall amount spent in Indian Premier League on players has soared past Rs 6,000 crore, revealed Moneyball of Insidesport.
Now the big question is, which countries players have benefitted the most from IPL contracts?
1) Indian players biggest beneficiary of IPL contracts: As expected Indian cricketers have been the biggest beneficiary of the IPL Contracts. Out of total contracted cricketers – 485 comes from India. The Indian cricketers have earned 56.7% IPL players’ gross salaries which amount to be Rs 34,33,80,66,981 (3433 Cr).2) Australia: Australian cricketers are the second-highest earners in IPL. Total 94 Australian players have been part of IPL till date and they have bagged contracts worth Rs 905.9 crore.
3) South Africa: So far 56 Proteas cricketers have earned Rs 539 cr from IPL in the last 14 years.
4) West Indies: Windies are third on the list as their 33 cricketers have played in IPL so far and have bagged contracts worth Rs 458.54 cr.
5) England: Total 33 cricketers from England have participated in IPL and earned contracts worth Rs 285.96 cr.
6) New Zealand: 31 Kiwi cricketers have been part of IPL so far and they amount to Rs 211.66 cr.
7) Sri Lanka: So far 27 cricketers from the island nation have participated in IPL and earned contracts worth Rs 195.93 cr.
8) Afghanistan: Only 4 Afghan cricketers have been part of IPL in last 14 years and they have earned the contracts worth Rs 58.4 cr.
9) Bangladesh: Total 6 Bangladesh cricketers have played in IPL so far and they amount to Rs 34.78 cr.
10) Pakistan: 11 players from Pakistan have participated in IPL till the time they were allowed to play in the cash-rich league and they earned contracts worth Rs 12.84 cr.
11) Netherlands: Only 2 players from the Netherlands have been part of IPL and their contracts were worth Rs 5.27 cr.
12) Zimbabwe: Three players from Zimbabwe had been part of IPL and costed Rs 1 crore.
Nepal, Kenya, USA and UAE are 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th on the list respectively and only one player from each of the countries has been part of IPL and cost Rs 60 lakhs, Rs 20 lakhs, Rs 20 lakhs and Rs 10 lakhs respectively.
