UEFA Champions League Broadcasting & Live Streaming Rights – Indian Market: After LaLiga, another top football rights portfolio is up for sale in the Indian Sub-Continent market. UEFA has initiated a tender process for the Indian Sub-Continent market for rights to the Uefa club competitions across the 2021-24 cycle.
Sony Sports Network is the incumbent rights holder for the UEFA portfolio. According to the information available with InsideSport.co, after the rights renewal negotiation process with Sony could not yield desired results, UEFA decided to go to the market and has initiated the tender process.
Like several other sports rights portfolios, UEFA Champions League rights package also dropped in values during the last renewal cycle (2018/19 – 2021-22). According to the experts in the field, these values are expected to fall further for the rights holder.
Currently LaLiga also is in the market with their rights package and had initiated tender process after deal with Facebook failed to get renewed.
UEFA Rights Package for Indian Sub-Continent: The rights package for the Indian Sub-Continent includes the rights to top-tier UEFA Champions League (and UEFA Super Cup), and the Europa League and Europa Conference League with rights to the second-tier and new third-tier competition packaged together.
The tender process is led by UEFA’s official marketing partner, Team Marketing agency. A first-round bid deadline is March 16.
