Ind vs Eng: Ashwin becomes first Indian and only second cricketer to pick five-wicket haul and hit century most times in Test- Ravi Chandran Ashwin gave a sheer testament of his prowess with both the ball and his willow as he went on to script a unique milestone. Ashwin has become the first Indian and only the second cricketer in the world after Ian Botham to score a century and register a fifer most times (3 times) in a Test match.

Out of his three times, Ashwin has achieved the feat twice against West Indies – in 2011 and 2016 while his latest milestone came in the ongoing India vs England 2nd Test in Chennai.

After India lost quick wickets in their second innings, Ashwin’s came to the rescue. He and Virat Kohli put up a 96-run stand for the seventh wicket as India got an edge over the visitors on Day 3 of Ind vs Eng 2nd Test. The hosts have neared their lead to 400 runs in their bid to level the series 1-1. A win will boost India’s place in the ICC Test Championship table. The right-arm-spinner had earlier helped India save the Sydney Test match in Australia earlier this year.
