Axar Patel captaincy record in all formats

Axar Patel will be leading the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after they did not retain former captain Rishabh Pant.

Axar Patel has been named the captain of Delhi Capitals just as IPL Season 18 is set to kick off on March 22. Although KL Rahul was also part of the squad, Patel’s appointment seems to be a recognition of his loyalty and consistent performances for the team over the years.

Axar, who is starting his sixth season with the Capitals, was one of the four players DC decided to keep this season along with Abishek Porel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Tristan Stubbs. Before the formal announcement, there was conjecture that Rishabh Pant might be replaced as captain by either KL Rahul or Faf du Plessis, who were both purchased during the player auction.
