Former Pakistan Cricket Team captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is displeased with India and the BCCI. He has claimed other boards to boycott the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). The reason? If the BCCI doesn’t release their players to play in foreign T20 leagues, then the other boards should also do the same.
For the unversed, the BCCI has strict rules. No Indian player is allowed to take part in foreign leagues. Only retired players can do so. The rest of the players all undergo the hammer to take part in the IPL.
Foreign boards should not send players to IPL
This rule, however, doesn’t apply to the women cricketers. Star players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues all take part in BBL, The Hundred and other leagues across the globe. The rule only applies to the men’s cricketers who are not allowed to take part in foreign leagues.
“Keep the Champions Trophy aside, you look at the IPL where all the top players from around the world take part. But Indian players don’t go to play in other leagues. Hence, all the boards should stop sending their players to the IPL. If you don’t release your players for any league, then shouldn’t other boards take a stance?” Inzamam said on a local news channel in Pakistan.
Coming to the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Since the dates of PSL and IPL are closing, most of the foreign players often decide to ditch PSL to play in the cash-rich league, i.e. IPL.
