17-year-old Manas Dhamne clinches maiden singles title in ITF Monastir $15,000 event

Manas Dhamne clinched his maiden pro title in the ITF Monastir $15,000 event defeating Junior French Open semifinalist.

The 17-year-old Manas Dhamne clinched his maiden singles title at the ITF Monastir $15,000 tournament on Sunday.

He won eight matches in eight days during the event, securing his first professional title. In the final, he defeated 2024 Junior French Open semifinalist Lorenzo Carboni 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 to create history.

The Indian faced an early setback, losing his serve in the second game as Carboni surged to a 3-0 lead. Though Dhamne managed to hold his next two service games, he was broken again in the eighth game, allowing the Italian to take the first set 6-2.

He dominated the set, breaking Carboni’s serve three times in a row to claim a flawless 6-0 victory.

Earlier in the semi-finals, Dhamne had defeated top seed Alberto Barroso Campos 6-4, 6-3 to reach the final.

Who is Manas Dhamne?

Dhamne hails from Maharashtra’s Pune. Gaurav Natekar’s wife had previously been his coach in Pune. He departed India to practice at the Piatti Tennis Center in Bordighera, Italy, under Riccardo Piatti. He was the youngest Indian to win a junior title at the ITF Asian B1 championships in October 2022.
