Shardul Thakur has a happy knack of performing with the bat, whenever his team needs him.. be it for Team India or Mumbai, his domestic side. Who doesn’t remember his fighting fifty for the team in the WTC final vs Australia, and another one vs the Aussies in Gabba, in the last series.
Shardul Thakur Shines with Bat, Rohit Sharma Flops
He did something similar on Thursday, in Mumbai vs Jammu & Kashmir Ranji Trophy match, where, on a green-top wicket, his team was struggling at 47/7. And then he produced a masterclass of 51 from 57 deliveries to take his side to 120. Then with the ball too, he gave it his best and came up with figures of 1/29.
That just goes on to show what a quality all-rounder Shardul Thakur has become. But yet, he has been constantly overlooked for the Indian team for sometime now. But with this performance, he has sent a timely reminder to the selectors for sure. “What can I talk about my quality? Others should talk about it. They should see that if someone has quality, he should be given more chances,” Thakur told the media.
Shardul in Team India Again?
“I like batting in difficult situations. In easy situations, everyone does well, but how you put up the show in adverse situations matters. I see tough situations as a challenge and always think about how to overcome that challenge,” he said. What’s even worse for him is, he went unsold at the IPL Auction in November.
“You have to forget whatever has happened in the past; it is not going to change. It is important to be in the present and think about what you can do in the near future,” he said. Meanwhile, he backed his teammate Rohit Sharma, who on his Ranji Trophy comeback, failed miserably.

“He is always passionate about Mumbai cricket. Any Mumbaikar, the way we have seen hardships growing up as teenagers playing maidan cricket, everyone is so passionate about Mumbai cricket that even if they’re playing for India, they follow what (the) Mumbai team is doing,” he said.
“When they come back here, they play as if they are part of this team and they play all (their) heart out. To be fair to Rohit, I felt he was just batting in his own zone (and) unlike you said, he wasn’t trying a lot. (He was) just keeping things simple, but yes, (against) new ball, (you get) one chance, (and) it can go anywhere,” he added.
