CSK’s new 2 crore pick Nathan Ellis falls flat on ground after nasty head collision with ad board in BBL

Nathan Ellis was the designated skipper for the Hobart Hurricanes match against Sydney Thunders.

Nathan Ellis gave fans a scare during the Big Bash League (BBL) match between the Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder after a nasty collision with the advertisement boards near the boundary ropes. Earlier in the game, we saw David Warner hit himself with a broken bat but now Ellis’ injury had everyone on their seats. It was a bit frightening to see as the newest Chennai Super Kings (CSK) signee fell flat for more than a minute after the collision.

Watch: Nathan Ellis get hit on head in BBL match

The incident happened while Nathan Ellis was chasing a ball that ricocheted off David Warner’s bat during a quick second run by Sam Billings.

Ellis sprinted hard to stop the ball from crossing the boundary, but his momentum carried him straight into the advertisement boards, where he hit his head. The sight of Ellis lying motionless on the ground was worrying, and the physio quickly rushed to his aid. Fortunately, Ellis was able to get back on his feet after a few moments, though he looked visibly shaken and likely suffered a concussion. He was expected to be substituted as Ellis was hit on the head.

Nathan Ellis is FINE!

Incredibly for the Hurricanes and CSK fans, Ellis wasn’t substituted. Leading from the front, he came back a couple of overs later and even bowled one over of the “power surge.” While David Warner was going hammer and tongs after smoking another BBL fifty, Ellis’ return was a moment of massive relief. After all, Hobart have never clinched a BBL title and they have done superbly so far in the tournament. A win against Sydney would propel them to top of the table.
