Rohit Sharma registers horrific record, surpasses Sachin Tendulkar in Most Losses in season

After Melbourne Test loss, Rohit Sharma registers yet another unwanted for Team India

India Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma has had a poor 2024 Calendar year as far as Test Cricket is concerned. And in doing so he has shaken hands with one of the greats of the game – Sachin Tendulkar. But hold on, it is not a record to be proud of. Rohit has now gone on to lose 6 Test matches, surpassing Sachin who had 5 losses to his name – the highest by any Indian captain.

Rohit Sharma in the 2024-25 season and Sachin Tendulkar in 1999-2000 are the only two Indian captain to have more than 5 Test losses under their belt. And this surely is a record which Rohit won’t be too pleased with. Rohit’s biggest shocker came in the IND vs NZ Test series at home where the Kiwis inflicted a humiliating 3-0 whitewash.

Rohit Sharma surpasses Sachin Tendulkar

It is safe to say that India has definitely won more Test matches than losses this season – the only saving grace for India. But that surely won’t be enough to save the Hitman from the humiliation.

India’s first loss came in the Hyderabad Test earlier this year in January. The hosts were handed a 28-run defeat by the Three Lions. And then came the humiliating 3-0 loss at home to New Zealand. And then comes the 2 Test matches in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Thus Rohit Sharma has become the only Indian captain to lose 6 Test matches in a season. And now this is an all-time low for the Indian captain. Can Rohit recover from this next season? We will have to wait and watch!
