Virat Kohli was fined by the ICC following the incident that occurred on Day 1 of the IND vs AUS 4th Test with debutant Sam Konstas.

Virat Kohli has been fined 20 per cent of his match fees and handed one demerit point following his on-field incident with Sam Konstas during the opening morning of the fourth Test between India and Australia at the MCG. The clash occurred after a shoulder-to-shoulder collision between Kohli and Australia’s 19-year-old debutant.

As Konstas and Usman Khawaja were changing ends during the Australian innings’ tenth and eleventh overs, Kohli went up to the young batter and collided with him.

What was the fine for Virat Kohli?

Virat Kohli was penalized 20% of his match fee for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct on the opening day of the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kohli, one of the four Indians, along with Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja, in the Grade A+ category of the BCCI central contract, earns a match fee of Rs 15 lakh for Test matches. As a result, he is required to pay Rs 3 lakh from his match fees.

Replays showed that Virat Kohli crossed into Sam Konstas’ path as he was heading straight to meet Khawaja at the non-striker’s end. As a result, Kohli’s shoulder collided with Konstas, which led to a heated argument. Along with the fine, Kohli was also handed one demerit point for the on-field confrontation.
