Why is India wearing black arm band in IND vs AUS 4th Test Day 2?

The Indian cricket team wore black armbands on Day 2 of the India vs Australia 4th Test to pay tribute to the former Indian Prime Minister.

The Indian cricket team wore black armbands during the second Test match against Australia on December 27 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as a tribute to the late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away the previous night in India.

Manmohan Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, passed away on Thursday. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi announced his demise. He had been admitted to the Emergency Ward in critical condition around 8:30 PM.

To pay tribute to the former Indian Prime Minister, the Indian team took the field on Day 2 of the India vs Australia Boxing Day Test match wearing black armbands. The black armbands symbolized mourning and sorrow over the passing of India’s two-term Prime Minister.
